History of the Arts Center

The Arts Center opened in 1992 at the request of the Alta California Regional Center.

Community Resource Services and ACRC share the philosophy and goal to offer instruction in fine arts and crafts, providing a positive vista for creative expression, for adults with disabilities.

The Arts Center Gallery / Studio is in a large airy, sun filled building in central down town Yuba City providing clients the pleasure of exhibiting and marketing their art in a professional setting.

The Artists work is sold in the Arts Center Gallery and various commercial settings in the community. Clients receive 80% commission on each sale.

The Arts Center is an excellent work training site with easy access to public transportation for community integration, teaching the use of the Yuba-Sutter Transit system that is vital in experience and independence.

Our curriculum includes a personal skills component with emphasis on social skills, making and keeping friendships, problem solving, strengthening self – advocacy skills and building self-confidence. Trainings taking place in their natural settings in the community as appropriate.

The Arts Center has a capacity of forty-nine clients and program staff includes the coordinator and ten instructors with extensive and varied backgrounds in fine arts and crafts.
